Oakland at Detroit

While Dallas Braden has pitched very well this year (3.23 ERA), Max Scherzer has gotten shelled thus far. The good news for him is he gets a team today that averages just 3.7 runs per game on the road. And, Detroit gets only 4.4 runs per game at home (4.2 per game vs. LHP like Braden). Both of these teams play defense with Oakland allowing only 4.0 per game on the season (2.1 per game over their last seven and 2.8 per game in their 18 day games) and Detroit allowing 4.5 per game (3.7 per game in day games and 3.7 per game vs. LHP). Over the past three seasons, Oakland is 51-30 UNDER on the road vs. AL teams that allow under 4.7 runs per game. In May, Detroit is 9-1 UNDER at home and I look for that to go to 10-1 after today.
