Oakland looks to salvage the final game of this series after scoring only four runs the first three games. Cole Irvin has pitched better than his record indicates with an overall ERA of 3.52 and 3.30 on the road. The White Sox will be seeing Irvin for the first time and he has allowed only 15 earned runs his last 41 1/3 innings. Dylan Cease has recovered somewhat after a rough two months when he had an ERA over 5.00 in June and July. The Athletics have won eight of 11 versus right-handed starters and they still are 72-24 their past 96 games against AL Central teams and 27-12 overall in the fourth game of a series.
