Oakland at Boston

It took awhile for Boston to get on track, but the Red Sox have won eight of their last 10 to move three games over .500 while getting good pitching throughout the resurgence. The Red Sox have won five of Nick Pivetta's last six starts, including 8-0 over Oakland on June 4 when he allowed just two hits in seven innings. Pivetta was 4-1 with a 2.11 ERA and .187 opponent batting average in May and so far he has given up four runs in 12 innings in June. The Athletics are headed for a last-place finish in the AL West as they got rid of most of their good players again and Jared Koenig will make his second start tonight after allowing four runs on five hits in five innings in a 13-2 loss to Atlanta on Wednesday. Oakland has lost 14 of its past 16 games and Boston has won six of the last seven meetings, including a three-game sweep earlier this month. Boston is 16-5 its past 21 games versus the AL West.
