The New York Yankees went on a tear, winning 13 straight games and appeared to be a lock for a Wild Card in the AL. The wheels have come off for this team since as the Yankees are just 2-10 over their 12 games since the big streak was snapped and have essentially given all the gains back. They now trail the Red Sox and have three teams on their tail in Seattle, Oakland, and Toronto, who are all within two games. The Mets imploded a bit earlier and have all but crushed any hopes they have to make the playoffs, but this is a heated rivalry, and the Mets know they can personally be responsible for the Yankees not making the playoffs. The Yankees are in a severe freefall right now, and this is a great opportunity for the Mets for a feel-good. Make the play on the New York Mets.
