The anticipated pitcher's duel between Luis Severino and Max Scherzer never happened. The Yankees won the opening game of the Subway series 6-5. The Mets have to feel good about their chances with Justin Verlander on the mound who has been a Yankee killer for quite some time. Verlander and his team are now 9-2 in his last 11 starts vs the Yankees. Gerrit Cole gets the ball for the Mets and that may not be as good as it sounds. The Yankees have allowed 17 runs in Cole's last two starts against the NY Mets and in his six career starts against them, the Mets have scored four or more runs five times. I like the NY Mets in this one.
