The Mets won the first game of the Subway Series after scoring four runs in the first to more than counter the Yankees' two runs in the top of the inning, and the Mets went on to a 6-3 victory on Tuesday night. Now they have Max Scherzer starting tonight's game and he has allowed only five runs in four outings since coming off the injured list while giving New York six or seven solid innings. Scherzer is 6-2 with a 2.28 ERA and 0.89 WHIP on the season. Domingo German will make only his second start of the year, and in his first one he gave up five runs on six hits in three innings against Houston as the Yanks lost 7-5. The Bronx Bombers have lost six of their past 10 games while the Mets have won six of nine as they battle Atlanta for first place in the NL East. The Mets have won six of the last eight meetings and the Yankees have lost seven of nine overall against starting pitchers with a 1.15 WHIP or lower. Take the Mets.
