The Yankees got bad news before the season started when Gerritt Cole was going to be down for an extended period. It opened the door for Luis Gil to get an opportunity to showcase what he had. Gil has been a top of the rotation pitcher with the Yankees posting an 11-2 record when he takes the mound, and he has won 8 straight decisions. The Yankees in his 13 starts  have held opponents to 3 or fewer runs in 9 of them. The Red Sox will counter with Brayon Bello. Bello has hit a rough patch as his last two starts have not been good.
