In game two of the doubleheader I again like the home team. As in game one, Boston has the offensive advantage given their home offense vs. New York's road offense and the recent scoring trends of both of these teams. This matchup features Sidney Ponson who is looking like an overcooked turkey - he's done. He was supposed to make a career ressurgence in New York but he's not. He's 1-4 with a 5.21 on the road this season and 0-2 with a 6.60 ERA in his last three starts. He gave up 6 earned runs in just 2.33 innings in his last outing at Toronto. With him on the mound, Ponson's teams are 0-6 this season on the road vs. teams that outscore opponents by 0.5+ runs per game. And, he's 1-10 in second-half play over the past two seasons! Jon Lester meanwhile is 4-1 at home with a 3.75 home ERA! Small price to pay here on the Red Sox.
