The New York Yankees have gotten to this point of the season tied for first in the AL East with Boston, thanks to pitching. Most of the Yankee bats have had a below average season, but things are changing fast. The Bombers are scoring nearly 8 runs per game over their last nine, and the bats are all heating up. The difference here is what is in the bullpen, as the starters by name may not be equal, but are by performance. The Yankees’ pen is the best in the AL and with hot bats and an equal match on the mound (Colon 3.30 ERA vs. Lester 3.17 ERA), and a bullpen edge the Red Sox are very overpriced here. The Yanks are also dominating lefties at 20-6 in their last 26. New York gets the call.
