New York is back on track after winning its fourth in five games when Brett Gardner blooped a two-run single in the ninth inning Wednesday to beat the Orioles 4-3. Baltimore lost its 99th game and fell to 22-51 at home while losing its fifth straight game. Jordan Montgomery gave up more than three runs for the first time since June 15 in a loss to the Mets on Friday, but he had an ERA of under 3.00 in July and August. Montgomery has allowed eight runs in 18 2/3 innings versus the Orioles this year. Chris Ellis will make his fifth start for Baltimore after being acquired from Tampa Bay. The Yankees have won 46 of their past 67 games versus teams with .400 or worse winning percentages and they are 41-13 the past 54 meetings with the Orioles, who are 19-40 against left-handed starters.
