New York at Washington

The New York Mets were never really in contention for a playoffs run all season. However, what they have done is play well enough down the stretch to catch the fading Atlanta Braves, and are even in the loss column for second best in the NL Central. Dillon Gee has had a respectable season for the Mets, and has found success over his career vs. the Nationals where he is 8-4 lifetime with a 3.51 ERA. Washington owns the best record in the NL with one more win than the LA Dodgers, and the Mets would like nothing more than to close their season by taking Washington off the #1 pedestal. The Mets own a 19-7 mark in their last 26 against a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. They have also done well in an anticipated pitching-dominant game, as they are 9-3 in their last 12 to a total of 7 to 8.5. The Nats are just 1-5 in Treinens' last six starts. Back the Mets in this one.
