Jacob deGrom is arguably the best pitcher in the National League and he comes off a season when opposing hitters batted just .190 against him, with 104 strikeouts in 68 innings. The first two months of the season, the right-hander allowed only eight earned runs in 41 innings and Washington hitters are batting a combined .219 against deGrom. Max Scherzer did not have a great season by his standards, going 5-4 with a 3.74 ERA. His fastball showed signs of deteriorating and he'll turn 37 on July 27. Also, Scherzer was only 2-2 with a 5.52 ERA at home last season and he gave up five runs on 13 hits in 13 innings against the Mets. The Nationals expect to go back to being contenders again this year, but for this matchup deGrom and the Mets get the call.
