The San Francisco Giants have fallen into a slump which has resulted in six losses in their last seven games, and the Mets have won two of the first three in this series. The Giants offense has sputtered for just 21 runs in their last eight games, and have been victimized by the shutout twice. Barry Zito is having a decent season, but remains the weak link in a strong rotation for the Giants, resulting in six Giants’ losses in his last nine starts. Chris Young has allowed 3 runs or less in 8 of his 10 starts for the Mets, and with a struggling Giants lineup, a good outing is certainly likely. The Mets have feasted vs. struggling offenses, now 17-7 in their last 24 vs. a team that scored 2 or less in their previous game. The Giants are now 4-10 behind Zito in his last 14 when scoring 2 or less in their previous game. Play on New York.
