A pair of teams that were not contenders a year ago have made enough improvements to be a qualifying contender this season. The Mets are just a half game behind Washington in the NL East, while San Diego sits six games back in the NL West. It has been all about pitching for the Mets, and tonight they send Dillon Gee to the mound for his first start since coming off he DL. Gee had allowed three or fewer runs in each of his previous three starts. The Padres have their ace on the hill tonight in James Shields. Shields is 6-0 on the season and has been good just about every time out, and strikes out better than 10 hitters per nine innings on the season. The Mets have had just three of their last 14 games with Gee on the hill as a dog from +110 to +150 make it OVER the total, so runs will be scarce in this one tonight. Make your play on the UNDER.
