The Oakland A's were sailing along smoothly, and bolstered their starting pitching before the trade deadline. They have paid the price in doing so as they have lost a productive hitter in the middle of the lineup in dealing Yoenis Cepedes. The A's are averaging just 3.7 runs per game in August, while the pitching has had its share of problems over the last 11 games, allowing 3 runs or more in 10 of their last 11 contests. The Mets have had offensive problems of their own, but the pitching has surrendered less than 4 runs per contest over their last nine. Zack Wheeler has allowed a total of 13 runs in his last nine starts, and certainly has shown the ability to keep the Mets in this one. The Mets have been 20-8 in interleague road games vs. a right-handed starter, and find themselves in a good spot here. Play the Mets.
