New York at Houston

The New York Mets pick up the DH for this series. They got beat bad yesterday, but as road underdogs of +175 to +250 they are 219-59 after allowing 10 runs or more against an opponent after a combined score of 15 runs or more. The Houston Astros have had to deal with serious issues off the field in the wake of the catastrophic events of the past week in their hurricane-ravaged city. Houston goes with its worst starter in Mike Fiers (4.55 ERA). He has a losing record for this first-place team and was hit hard in his last outing, giving up eight runs and eight hits over four innings in a loss to Texas to drop to 1-5 over his last seven starts. He had a 7.44 ERA in six starts in August. Fiers has surrendered 31 homers, six of them coming during last month. And the Astros are just 7-15 against a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
