New York made a valiant comeback after falling behind 6-0, but came up just short in a 6-5 loss to the Braves on Tuesday. The Mets still have won four of six following a terrible start and they have averaged 5.5 runs their past four games after struggling to score at all the first week of the season. Jose Quintana goes for the Mets and they come off a 3-2 win over Cincinnati his last start on Friday. Quintana has allowed three runs on 11 hits in 10 1/3 innings. Allan Winans will start for Atlanta and he has a 5.56 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in two career starts against the Mets. Winans is making his first appearance in 2024 after finishing with a 5.29 ERA in six games last year.
