The Mets are a road favorite, but a long way from home and in the second game of a 10-game trek mostly out West. They looked flat in the opener of the trip, getting bombed yesterday, 10-6. Jay Bruce is just 8-for-50 for the Mets since being acquired from Cincinnati, and has gone eight games without a homer. Mets LF Yoenis Cespedes (quadriceps) is still out and the team has a losing road record. The Mets are 2-8 against a team with a losing record, plus 4-14 vs. the NL West. New York righty Noah Syndergaard is off two bad starts, allowing 15 hits and 7 runs in 11 innings. His last start was against this Arizona team, losing 9-0 at home. The D-Backs have plenty of offensive talent, seventh in baseball in slugging, and winning five of eight while tallying nine runs or more three times. Diamondbacks' starter Braden Shipley (2-1, 2.96 ERA) shut down the Mets five days ago scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings. The Diamondbacks racked up 16 hits, including nine for extra bases, in their 10-6 victory on Monday, so grab the home dog and play Arizona.
