The Twins are taking a look at the minors. Starter Esmerling Vasquez began the season as a reliever and will make his second career start at the major-league level Sunday after being called up from Triple-A. Vasquez has an unimpressive track record as a reliever in the majors, posting a 4.66 ERA in 137 innings, so it is tough to expect too much from him. And he's not some hot shot young prospect, either, as he's 27-years-old. The Twins are 6-17 in their last 23 and 4-12 in their last 16 games vs. a right-handed starter. They face righty Luis Mendoza, who's been fairly good with seven wins, few walks, and he's excelled against the Twins with a 2-1 record and a 2.79 ERA against them in 19 innings. The Royals are 9-3 in their last 12 home games, 8-2 against the American League Central and a perfect 7-0 in their last seven games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. KC is also 4-0 in Mendoza's last four home starts. Play the Royals.
