Minnesota at Kansas City

Most expected an improved season from the Kansas City Royals, but I'm not sure anyone thought that less than a week from Labor Day, this team would be sitting atop the AL Central and ahead of the Detroit Tigers. This is a young team that has come of age, and has the starting pitching and bullpen to pull it off. The Royals have a chance to improve upon that with six of their next nine games vs. Minnesota and Texas. the Twins are 14 games under .500, but are actually much worse as they are 17-9 when Hughes starts, and are 22 games under .500 behind anyone else. Ricky Nolasco has not helped that cause as he is 5-9 with an ERA approaching 6 on the season. The Twins have had nothing against a pitcher with a WHIP of 1.15 or less where they have produced a 32-82 record in their last 114 when facing them. Make the play on Kansas City in this one.
