The oddsmakers are notorious for padding the lines on home chalk down the stretch in "must win" situations. The Tigers are two games out in a win the division, or miss the playoffs scenario. Ricky Porcello showed a lot of promise as a rookie, but in the three years since he has had an ERA that averages out to 4.75, and those numbers aren't conducive to long odds as a favorite. Minnesota has gotten a lot more impressive work out of Samuel Deduno as he is 6-4 for a losing team, with an ERA at a highly respectable 3.84 on the season. They are also 8-2 when he starts to a total of 9 to 10.5. Porcello has not been the answer for the Tigers down the stretch, as they have dropped his last seven starts. Play on Minnesota.
