Brad Penny at one time was a coveted pitcher, but one that has never been able to get back to the level he enjoyed with the Dodgers. He has struggled over the last four years, and has bounced around a lot of teams, hoping for the Penny of old to resurface, but he has not. He carries a 5+ ERA into this one, and is pitching for a team 20 games over .500 but has a losing record. Kevin Slowey showed promise but appeared to be lost this year, migrated to the bullpen to work things out, and has been inserted in the rotation, with good results, allowing just 2 runs in each of his last two starts. Slowey has achieved a 22-10 mark for the Twins when pitching in a game following the team scoring 5 runs or more, and with penny on the hill the Tigers stand at just 2-5 in his last seven starts as a home favorite. Ride with Minnesota.
