There is no question that Justin Verlander has lost a few MPHs on his fastball, but he is a savvy veteran that still has plus stuff. He should easily be able to navigate a depleted Twins lineup that once again will be without their only true threat in Joe Mauer. The Twins did not have a player in their starting lineup yesterday with an average over .267. Verlander has been dominating vs. the Twins this season, as he has allowed 1 run and just 9 hits, striking out 15 in 12 innings. Mauer was the only one with good career numbers against him, so the Twins will be hard pressed to manufacture much of anything here. The Tigers are 60-20 when Verlander gets the ball at home in his last 80 starts, including 37-11 in his last 48 vs. a losing team. Detroit is also 11-1 in his last 12 starts vs. the Twins. Go with Detroit and Verlander.
