Milwaukee at San Diego

The San Diego Padres made a lot of offseason moves to deepen and strengthen a weak hitting attack, as well as to fortify their rotation. Considered a contender to start the season, it never materialized for this team, and there will be no post season. Tyson Ross has not been part of the problem, with an ERA of 3.17 and 11 strikeouts in six innings in his last outing. He will go over 200 innings tonight, and has gone deep into games. Jorge Lopez will make the jump from AA to start tonight, but the bigger issue may be the fact that he has not pitched in a game since September 4th, some 25 days ago. That is a tall order for a pitcher making his debut. The Brewers have had trouble stringing together wins, and enter at 0-6 in their last six off a win. Back San Diego in this one.
