Tonight Yusmeiro Petit gets his first start of the season for Florida. In 11 innings of relief action thus far he's given up 9 earned runs. Not good. Facing him is Mike OConnor who in comparison has a very solid 3.77 ERA. But, the crux of this pick is recent play by both teams. Florida has dropped four straight by a combined score of 13-30 while Washington has won four straight by a score of 25-10. Two opposite trajectories that we will take advantage of tonight. The fact is that teams off 3+ consecutive wins in a game involving two bad teams (38% to 46%) are 51-26 (66%) over the last 5 seasons. Florida is playing poorly right now and their bullpen in particular is awful on the road (5.53 ERA). Nats here.
