The San Diego Padres looked like a team headed for Houston territory, as the Astros dropped 106 games last season. The Padres’ first 16 games left them at 3-13, but they have been a better than .500 team since. They say good pitching is contagious, and the Padres have delivered a string of them. They have allowed just 36 runs in their last 13 games, at less than 3 per contest, with the last two being shutouts. Miami has an ace on the hill in Josh Johnson, but the offense has been non-existent on the road where the Marlins have scored a pathetic 16 runs in their last 10 road games, at 1.6 per contest. This one has all the ingredients for a low-scoring, pitcher's duel. The Padres’ offense has been at its best vs. right-hand pitching where they are 5-1 in their last six, while the Marlins are just 1-6 in Johnson's last seven starts as a road favorite of -110 to -150. Miami’s inept road offense has left them at 20-7 to the UNDER in their last 27 on the road. The Padres are now 37-18-3 to the UNDER when following an off day with a rested pen. Play on San Diego and take the UNDER.
