The Florida Marlins signed Javier Vasquez as a pitcher with a lot of experience, and also an innings-eater. Vasquez has disappointed for the large part, but his last outing indicates he has figured things out as he pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, walking no one. He has a very good pedigree vs. the A's where he is 5-3. In 64 innings, he has allowed just 48 hits, so the light-hitting A's attack should be held under control here. Gio Gonzalez has pitched above his 6-5 record on the season, but therein lies the problem - the A's simply can't outscore his good pitching. With a straightened-out Vasquez, I like Florida in this one as they are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. interleague lefthanders. The A's, behind Gonzalez, are just 1-5 in interleague play in his last six starts. Play on Florida.
