New York pounded the hapless Marlins 10-3 on Wednesday and Pete Alonso belted his 51st home run while Miami was held to four hits. The Mets have won eight of the last nine meetings and they have won six of their last eight overall, although they have been eliminated from postseason action. Miami is 3-13 the last 16 meetings at Citi Field and 7-19 the last 26 meetings overall. Zack Wheeler has pitched well in his last five starts, allowing only five earned runs in 32 innings pitched. Wheeler is 5-1 with a 2.77 ERA the second half of the season and he has given up just two runs in 15 innings versus the Marlins this year. Jordan Yamamoto is 4-5 with a 4.83 ERA and the Marlins have lost his last five starts, including a 7-2 loss to the Mets when he gave up four runs in six innings. Back the Mets.
