The Miami Marlins just finished a seven-game homestand and now embark on a nine-game trek. The offense has been slumping, losing two of three scoring a total of seven runs. Giancarlo Stanton is in a terrible slump, going 8-for-73 (.110) in his last 21 games. The Marlins are 2-12 in interleague road games. Lefty starter Adam Conley walks too many batters (27 in 58 innings) and the Twins are 18-8 in interleague home games against a left-handed starter. Minnesota is home and slugger Joe Mauer is off a big series against Tampa Bay. He loves facing the Marlins, going 12-for-29 (.414) with two homers among four extra-base hits and eight RBIs in seven career meetings. Fellow infielder Eduardo Nunez is 21-for-50 (.420) with four homers and 11 runs scored in his last 11 games. Twins' starter Pat Dean has been very good with a 23-7 strikeout to walk ratio in 26 innings, plus he's allowed two runs in four of his five starts, so jump on the home dog. Play Minnesota.
