The Dodgers have the best record in baseball, but that didn't help them last night as they were blanked by the Mariners 1-0, wasting a great pitching outing. Their recent play doesn't show a lot of promise as this team is 2 games below .500 over their last 16. One of the reasons is that they have scored 3 runs or less in more than half of them and will be dependent once again on a good pitching performance, one they should get from Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw has had a great start to 2012, but with his 2.55 ERA comes just a 4-3 record, and lately he has shown to be a bit more vulnerable. Jason Vargas has shown great improvement and is 7-4 with an ERA in the mid-3s. The Dodgers also have an Achilles heel as they are a dreadful 7-25 in their last 32 vs. a left-hand pitcher. They have also struggled in interleague play vs. the AL West where they are 3-12 in their last 15 and overall are just 3-9 in their last 12 vs. the Mariners. Seattle on the other hand, is now punishing lefthanders at home to a 20-8 mark in their last 28, and have gone 10-2 to the UNDER in interleague play in their last 12 vs. a winning team. The last five meetings between these clubs have also produced four UNDERs. Play on Seattle and the UNDER.
