After allowing a total of 2 runs in his previous five starts, Matt Cain is now off of two poor starts in a row. He is obviously having some problems right now. The Giants’ bats are just not strong enough to take advantage of a quality start, and despite Cain having an ERA of under 3 for the season, the Giants have a losing record with him on the mound at 7-8. It runs the Giants’ mark to 12-15 in his last 27 starts, and if he were facing a -1.5 runline, as he is here, just 9-18. The Dodgers are 5-1 behind Ely in his start following a quality start his last time out, and overall now stand at 63-28 in their last 91 inside the division. Cain is just 3-9 in his last 12 starts vs. the Dodgers, so I'll go with LA on the runline.
