The Dodgers took it to the Padres in the opener for both clubs yesterday 5-3. It was one swing off the bat of Matt Kemp that did the Padres in, as his 3-run homer was loud. Kemp is off a season where he hit .324 with 39 HRs and 126 RBI, and looks poised to duplicate those numbers again this season. The Padres have a weak lineup and managed just five hits, one from a pinch hitter, one from a pitcher and two from Maybin at the top of the order. The lack of punch will victimize them again today, as the Dodgers have been a momentum team, closing last season 21-5 after scoring 5 runs or more in their last game. Luebke failed in his last six attempts last year when facing a team with a winning record. Play on the Dodgers in this one.
