Jeff Samardzija has been the Cubs' best option on the mound, but an unproductive offense has limited him to a 5-8 record. Samardzija has not been very effective over his last seven starts, allowing 24 runs in 46.2 innings for an ERA of 4.63. When you consider the fact that the Cubs are a brutal 6-40 on the season when they allow 4 or more runs, they could be in trouble here tonight. The Angels have been dealing the death blow vs. right-handed pitching where they are 9-1 in their last 10. The Cubs are just 3-8 in their last 11 behind Samardzija. Play this one on the Angels.
