If you asked who was the best pitcher in the Oakland A's rotation at the beginning of the year, most would point to Gio Gonzalez. Gonzalez was living up to that billing, but he has lost his way, and right now does not fit that billing. Over his last eight starts, Gonzalez is carrying a 5.33 ERA, and has lost his way on the mound or may be hitting the wall. He never worked 100+ innings in MLB, and last year accumulated 202. He is closing in on finishing this season at 200 as well. The Royals have bounced back nicely of late after a poor outing by the staff, grabbing the win in five of their last six when following a game where they allowed 5 runs or more. Gonzalez struggles vs. bad teams is well documented as the A's are now just 2-8 in his last 10 starts vs. a team below .500. Play Kansas City on the runline in this one.
