Stop the presses! KC won on the road. Yes, they notched their fourth road win in 26 tries last night, beating the Oakland A's 6-4 as a +265 underdog. Congratulations. Can they do it again? Not in a million years. KC is having success against Oakland this season but the A's still own a 13-5 mark against them over the past three seasons. Brad Halsey gets the start for Oakland and he's got a 3.60 overall ERA and 2.25 at home. KC counters with Denny Bautista who has a respectable 4.55 ERA but the guy lasts just 4.6 innings per start. When he leaves the game, KC must rely on a terrible bullpen that has posted a 6.27 road ERA on way to a 1-7 record. KC got six runs yesterday but that was an anomoly as they score just 3.2 per game on the season away from home. Meanwhile, they allow 6.6 per game away, and 8.3 over their past seven games. Oakland is no offensive powerhouse but against this Royals team, they are going to score. Big road underdogs of +175 to +250 batting under .260 starting a pitcher who gives up 0.5 or less HR's/start are 5-43 (10%) over the last 5 seasons. Oakland knows they can't afford to drop two at home to the Royals. A's win this one.
