The Oakland A's continue to play-out their hand as pretenders, drifting south in the standings in the AL West, standing at a woeful 1-12 in their last 13 games. The hitting has always been suspect, but now the rotation has fallen apart, allowing 75 runs in the last 13 games at 5.8 per contest. The lineup simply can't outhit poor pitching. The Royals weren't exactly on a joyride themselves, posting a 6-19 mark over a 25-game stretch, but have righted the ship winning three of their last four. The A's are now 1-9 in their last 10 after allowing 5 runs or more in their last game, and Cahil has lost his confidence with the A's at 0-6 in his last six starts. Kansas City gets the call.
