Kansas City at Detroit

Detroit swept Thursday's doubleheader at Minnesota and now has won four straight and is tied for a Wild Card spot.  The Tigers are 42-32 at home and Kansas City is 32-46 on the road. Michael Fulmer is a Rookie of the Year candidate and although he got roughed up his last start at Cleveland, the right-hander is 10-7 with a 3.03 ERA on the season and 2.90 at home. Fulmer has allowed six runs in 19 2/3 innings against the Royals this year. The Tigers beat the Royals in Danny Duffy's last start against them on Sept. 2 when he gave up four runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. The Royals have lost four of Duffy's last five starts and September has been his worst month this season with a 4.15 ERA. Duffy has surrendered 15 runs in 26 2/3 innings versus Detroit in 2016. The Royals have lost eight of their last 11 games and after struggling most of the season against left-handers, the Tigers have now won five of their last seven versus southpaw starters.
