Detroit will not be on a playoff chase this September, but are contributing to the race as JD Martinez launched four HRs in a game, and Justin Verlander just acquired for prospects pitched a six inning, one run, seven strikeout gem for Houston last night. They continue to play a role by crushing Kansas City last night 13-2, and the Royals have reached a free fall. Kansas City has now dropped eight of their last 12 scoring just 32 runs and have been shutout five times in the 12 contests. They have also been dreadful on the mound, yielding 12 runs or more in their last nine, giving up close to nine runs per game in the process. Detroit seems to be embracing the role many have had facing them over recent years, as they contended every year, now they have a payback opportunity vs. Kansas City and are taking advantage of it.
