Kansas City at Detroit

Detroit has been an early season surprise with a 9-10 record after being picked to finish at or near the bottom of the AL Central, and four of the losses were against Cleveland. The Tigers have won five of their last six games while scoring an average of 6.7 runs, and today they face Eric Skoglund, who has been battered to the tune of 10 runs on 14 hits in just 9 2/3 innings this year. He wasn't any better in 2017 when he was 1-2 with a 9.50 ERA, and only Kansas City's lack of pitching depth is keeping him in the major leagues. Meanwhile, Francisco Liriano was a late pickup by Detroit, and it has so far turned out to be a good move as he is 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA and has not given up more than two runs in any of his three starts. Royals hitters are batting only .217 against Liriano, and Kansas City has lost 16 of its last 22 games overall dating to last season. Play the Tigers.
