It has been a frustrating season for James Shields, as he enters with just a 4-7 mark despite a respectable 3.24 ERA. The Royals went through a stretch of winning in eight consecutive starts he made, but what is left over from that eight-game stretch is a 3-10 mark in his other 13 starts. Jose Quintana has been every bit his equal, standing at 5-2 with a 3.61 ERA - impressive numbers for a team 19 games under .500. The Royals will also be dealing with what has long been their most vulnerable spot, as they are 29-69 in their last 98 on the road vs. a left-handed starter. Quintana has stepped it up when pitching in the role of a dog where the Sox are 4-1 in his last five. Back the White Sox in this one.
