Kansas City at Chicago

The Chicago White Sox sure looked to be sellers before the trade deadline a couple of weeks before the break, but that changed rather quickly. Chicago took 9 of 12 prior to the break to move within 5.5 games of a wild card entry into the playoffs. A big part of that was Jeff Simardzija, who has made five quality starts in his last six trips to the mound. Perhaps the most impressive of those was his last one vs. the best offense in baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays, where he shut them out on just four hits. Edison Volquez has had a very strong first half, but he faltered prior to the break, and has failed to record a win in each of his last three starts. The Royals remain strong, however, they have stumbled on the road when facing off vs. a team with a winning home record where they have lost five straight. Take the White Sox in today's early game.
