If you are a gambler, and I bet you are, you are aware that Roy Oswalt is on the mound today. Oswalt is 5-1 this year with a 2.86 ERA as he makes another bid for a Cy Young. He has been one of the best bets in baseball over the past several years as his only lost this year was to the surging Reds who had the best record in baseball at that time. Oswalt pitched against the Giants earlier this year and went nearly the full game and relenquished the ball with one out left in the 9th inning. He didn't allow a run as the Astros went on to win 8-0 on the road. Today, Oswalt is matched up against Nick Lowry of the Giants who comes off the Disabled List (DL). Although pitched well in his nearly two inning outing, he still hasn't gotten his feet very wet this season. swalt on the other hand, has continued to perform all season as he has done in years' past. He was 23-12 last year with a 3.01 ERA. The Astros are 5-0 in their last 5 games against teams with losing records, 5-0 when Oswalt is on the mound on the road with a total set between 7 and 8.5 and 5-1 in Oswalt's last 6 road starts. The Stros are also 19-5 with him on the mound as a favorite of -125 to -175. The Giants on the other hand are 0-4 in their last four overall and 0-4 in their last 4 as an underdog of +110 to +150. I look for both pitchers to pitch well, but I expect Oswalt to go deep in the game much like he did earlier this year versus this Giant team. Barry Bonds is not expected to be in the lineup for this game as he comes back from a long flight after his son's custory hearing. We'll go with Oswalt and the Stros against the Bonds-less Giants.
