Los Angeles usually does well with Shohei Ohtani pitching, but the Angels can't be trusted much other times as even after Wednesday's win they have lost eight of their past 10 games. Meanwhile, Houston leads the AL West by 11 games and is 30-18 on the road. Framber Valdez is going tonight and he is 8-4 with a 2.64 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Valdez has done his best work on the road where he owns a 1.76 ERA and .154 opponent batting average. In one appearance at Angel Stadium this year he threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings on two hits. Reid Detmers threw a no-hitter earlier this season and then was sent down to the minors before being recalled last week.
