Detroit at Texas

Detroit actually won two of three at the Los Angeles Angels this week. The Tigers' hitters finally came alive and scored 17 runs in the series, including a 9-1 victory on Wednesday without Nicholas Castellanos, who was traded right before game time. Texas has fallen 7 1/2 games behind a Wild Card spot after a surprisingly good first half of the season when it probably overachieved. The Rangers had lost three straight before beating Seattle 9-7 on Wednesday. Tyler Alexander will make his fourth start for the Tigers and he has allowed seven runs in 16 1/3 innings. Texas has lost two of Lance Lynn's last three starts and the Rangers have lost 12 of their last 16 overall and five of their last six home games. Also, the Rangers have struggled against left-handers and have lost five of their last seven home contests versus southpaws. Play the Tigers.
