Detroit at Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay blew leads of 5-0 and 7-3 before pulling out a 10-9 victory in 10 innings on Monday night for the Rays' 12th win in their last 13 home games.  Detroit has lost 16 of its last 20 after overachieving the first 2 1/2 months of the season, and the Tigers fell to 15-30 on the road. Tampa Bay has won 12 of its last 16 overall and seven of its last eight games against left-handed starters. The Tigers are 2-11 in Matt Boyd's last 13 road starts and they are 35-75 their last 110 games versus right-handed starters dating to last season. Boyd has allowed 20 earned runs on 25 hits his last 17 innings, including a 7-5 loss to Texas when he gave up seven runs (six earned) in only four innings. Boyd is 1-5 with a 5.55 ERA on the road and he had a 6.32 ERA overall in June. Ryne Stanek is scheduled to start for the Rays and his last eight starts have been scoreless although he pitches just a few innings in Tampa Bay's "bullpen games." Play the Rays.
