The Tampa Bay Rays were at one time 18 games below .500. They got hot and became the fourth team in MLB history that fell as many as 18 games below .500 to make it back to .500. They were playing at an unsustainable pace, and over their last 19 games they are just 8-11. The pitching, which went through a 12 game stretch of allowing 3 runs or fewer, has now allowed 4 or more in three straight contests. They will now be facing what was the ace of their staff in David Price, dealt to Detroit prior to the trade deadline. Price has been rock solid over his last 15 starts allowing 3 runs or less in 14 of them. The Tigers own five straight wins vs. losing teams, and the Rays have been out-dueled in potential pitching duels, as they are a woeful 3-10 to a posted total of 6.5 or less in their last 13 games.
