Detroit at Tampa Bay

Detroit hasn't hit much in its first two games and turns to Joey Wentz today. All but one of the Rays hitters will be seeing him for the first time. Wentz finished 2-2 with a 3.03 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in limited action in 2022. Jeffrey Springs goes for Tampa Bay and he faced the Tigers once last year and gave up two runs on four hits in six innings. Several trends go against the Rays in this matchup as they finished last season 3-13 against pitchers with WHIPs of 1.15 or lower and they were 3-7 following a win and 3-7 versus a team that scored fewer than two runs its previous game.
