Detroit at St. Louis

Detroit surprisingly swept the Mets in a three-game series, but now the Tigers go on the road where they are just 5-10 this season and the Cardinals will start Jordan Montgomery, who has pitched better than his 2-4 record indicates. Montgomery has a 3.34 ERA and 1.23 WHIP and has had only one bad outing and that was when he allowed seven runs in four innings against Arizona on April 18. Since then, he has given up just one earned run in 12 2/3 innings. Matthew Boyd comes off a rough start for Detroit as he allowed six runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings in a 6-4 loss to Baltimore on Saturday. St. Louis will be trying to snap a losing streak and the Cardinals are 20-6 at home versus teams with losing records dating to last season and 39-15 overall against left-handed starters, including 16-5 at home.
