The San Francisco Giants are certainly looking like a team of destiny right now. They needed to win six consecutive elimination games to get to the World Series. They now have it going in all areas - great pitching and a hot lineup. Yesterday they faced what many thought was an impossible task in going against not only one of the top pitchers in the game in Justin Verlander, but having to do so in a twilight start. They set the sun on Verlander before the sun actually dropped below the San Francisco horizon, as he lasted just four innings for a season low. The Tigers have a shaky bullpen, and with Velverde getting lit-up again, the closer is now by committee. They not only have momentum on their side, they also have history. Since 1986 teams that win game one at home go on to win game two in 13 of 17 occasions, so having the Giants here as a home dog is chock full of value. Play on San Francisco in this one.
