Detroit at Oakland

Detroit is expected to improve a little this year, but the Tigers still are woefully short on hitters, and they have been shut out the first two games of this series. Today they face Chris Bassitt, who comes off his best start so far this season allowing two runs on two hits in five innings against Arizona on Monday. The right-hander was brilliant at home in 2020 with a 0.72 ERA and a .207 opponent batting average in 37 1/3 innings. Oakland has won seven in a row in this series, and the Athletics have won nine of the past 10 meetings with Detroit overall and 10 of 11 at home.
